Tanner Bechtel artist news

Just as D’Angelico guitars can bring together sounds of generations and music genres, so do D’Angelico artists. Tanner Bechtel, a D’Angelico artist noted for his nationally successful country/pop crossover singles “I Do” and “Love You More” is a musician and songwriter based in Missouri and writes and records, both in his small home town of Boonville, MO and with Banner Music Publishing in Nashville, TN.

Bechtel recently announced a collaborative album and writing project with famed writer, singer and Nashville guitar-protege, Gary Nichols. Nichols, a Mercury recording artist who currently fronts the Grammy-nominated Americana/Bluegrass group, The SteelDrivers, is currently co-writing and producing an album with Bechtel. Nichols and Bechtel, working in the hallowed and fertile writing and recording community of Muscle Shoals, Alabama are blending traces of southern rock, Appalachian bluegrass and American songwriting skills to redefine and reform modern country music. “After meeting Tanner and listening to his music, I knew he was the real deal; a true Americana songwriter.” said Nichols. “It was at that point that I knew I wanted to share the studio with him.”

“This is a project that we are both pouring our hearts and heads into.” said Bechtel. “Gary and I share a great deal of the same good and bad experiences in life and music and that has given us the unique ability to connect with listeners in a powerful way. To be able to blend those stories and our perspectives together while having Gary’s guidance and experience in creating and producing exceptional music? It’s a perfect scenario—I couldn’t ask for better and I can not wait to release this music.”

Bechtel also added that many of his new songs have been written on his vintage sunburst D’Angelico EXL-1. “This arch top—the EXL-1—it creates a tone that I can’t get out of any of my other guitars. She’s easy to fall in love with and she can transition from the studio to the stage with ease. From looks to tone, either acoustically or through the humbucking pickup, this Excel is my baby and signature sound. I care for her like a fine woman and have called her Isabella since the day I bought her in Chicago. I’m very proud to call myself a D’Angelico artist.”
