FIRST STOP: ARLENE’S GROCERY
Without New York City, where would our musical heroes have gotten their start?
We want to start our New Year by giving back to the city and stages that define our home and give rise to legends. New York City’s music scene is built on its venues. They’re where we make our friends, where we make our livings, and where we have once-in-a-lifetime experiences. They’re where we come alive—so it’s our responsibility to make sure they stay alive.
For the next several weeks, we’ll be spotlighting a different venue who has launched a fundraiser in order to stay afloat while their doors are closed due to Covid-19. We’ll be donating to help them reach their goals, and we’ll be asking you to do the same—as well as spread the word by sharing this post and using #STAGEACOMEBACK.
We started by donating $7,000 to help The Bitter End reach their fundraising goal. Now, we’re supporting Arlene’s Grocery—a legendary rock club on the Lower East Side that has hosted everyone from Jeff Buckley to The Strokes to a weekly neo-soul jam at the heart of the scene. Arlene’s is a bedrock of New York City music, and they need our help. Yesterday, we donated $15,000. Now we’re asking all of you to raise the next $15,000, and then we’ll match the last $15,000. Just like that, they’ll have reached their goal. Then, it’s onto the next venue in need of help.
Share this post, donate what you can, and spread the word! Together, we can protect the heart of New York City’s iconic music scene. Together, we can #STAGEACOMEBACK.
